Classic Wedding Neckties

Even though most weddings in the US follow some type of color scheme, it is the groom’s necktie that usually stays consistent in color. While his groomsmen are usually outfitted with ties that match the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses, it is the tie of the groom that is typically cream or ivory in color. Below are three of our best selling wedding neckties in cream & ivory. Because all of these ties are so popular for weddings, we carry them as regular length ties as well as extra long ties. To see our entire collection of ties in this color family, we also invite you to view our collection of: Cream Ivory Ties

Darling on the Runway: Papusza Couture

The beautiful photos in the slideshow below are by Gemma Fleming. We put the slideshow together because we couldn’t choose just a few photos to share in the blog. We love the combination of behind the scenes and runway shots. We especially love the pictures of Kaytee sewing the last little details into the dresses.

Papusza Couture / McQueen Tribute Fashion Showphoto slideshow “I was thrilled to have the opportunity to show some of my pieces, both from older collections and my upcoming Paramicha collection, for an Alexander McQueen tribute show last week. The show was put on by Adam’s Group Productions for IMTA, and was held in the midtown Manhattan ballroom on July 28th. …The show was pretty awesome. It was in the ballroom at the Hilton and there were like 1,000 people there. It was this crazy huge runway. And a very traditional runway show. I’m not used to doing shows like that, and I prefer more creative presentations but it is nice to experience shows that are more “fashion” and not so much “art/performance.” Both have their positives, but I still find myself gravitating towards the latter.” – Kaytee Papusza FROCK on, Kaytee.

Ready For Lanvin’s Suitcase Honeymoon Set?

We were talking about weddings, a while back, right? What more suitable subject right now than the honeymoon?

Now for those of you who are not in the imminent honeymoon perspective, vacationing will do just fine! Lanvin has this wonderful little suitcase set called the Lanvin Suitcase Honeymoon set waiting for your $740! Yep, for $740 you (don’t get the vacation) get a pareo, sandals and a carrying bag all contained in a matching fully lined canvas suitcase, a patterned tote with an interior pocket. If you’ll notice there’s no bathing suit involved, it’s probably because of the “honeymoon” particle – you don’t go honeymooning with your clothes on, now do you? (via)

8/6 – Style discoveries: Deals, sales, things we love

Rhinebeck, N.Y., is probably back to normal after Chelsea Clinton’s wedding last Saturday, but I can’t help thinking about her mother.

Although Chelsea wore a dress by designer Vera Wang, Hillary’s wedding dress was an off-the-rack Jessica McClintock gown she purchased at Dillard’s the day before her marriage to Bill in 1975.

Chelsea Clinton’s wedding

Those were simpler times. Many of us who married in the ’70s eschewed grand weddings, organza gowns and the rituals our parents held dear with as much passion as we debunked other institutions. And among those wedding-day fashion departures was an embrace by many of the bohemian look more than the Edwardian.

Hillary’s gown was described as linen-y, muslin-y, with a Queen Anne kind of neckline and a flower-child kind of feel.

For her daughter’s wedding, Hillary wore a fuchsia gown by Oscar de la Renta, her go-to designer, according to fashion reporters.

But 35 or so years ago, the gauzy, romantic, flowing boho look fashion reporter Casey Hagarty features in this week’s fashion spread captured young brides’ imaginations more than trains, veils and crinolines.

Here are bargains, events and finds we discovered this week.
